Whoa! I presume that door was probably for loading corn into a loft! I can still smell what the corn loft smelled like from my grandpa's old barn. It's amazing to think a smell can linger in one's brain for over 60 years. It's very distinctive - a combination of corn husks and green hay (I'm thinking there was hay stored below and the corn above). I have no words to describe it. Thanks for bringing back a memory!

What a great rural shot...I just love the coloring of the barn...not so much the drop from the door to the ground ;)

What a lovely shot with the colours and shadows and textures.
And yup, that first step would be a doozie, no doubt.

Familiar sight around here--I'm agreeing with Kathy. Critters gotta eat yaknow! ;-)

Gives new meaning to 'open door'. Love the yellow tint on the barn.

Enough old and dilapidated is beautiful, at least in the picture.

What a beauty!! I love old barns, and here in Eastern Washington we have quite a few too. Gorgeous photo, by the way!

So interesting. I love your methods. I lived in the PNW once (78-82). My husband at the time worked for Boeing. He still does but in NC. I'm in Utah and I loved the weather there, but have acclimated to it here (been here all my life except when there)... anyway, come on over and join me? We have several ppls that follow as the same. huh?

I love the colors of the barn. It is fun how each barn has it's own way of falling apart and becoming its own kind of beauty.
