Stonehenge USA

This is Stonehenge
in Washington State
found along the Columbia River just east of the Gorge
This amazing exact replica
is full sized and astronomically aligned
Completed in 1929
in memory of soldiers who lost their lives
in World War I

A great find indeed. Oddly enough, I instantly picked up on the fact that it just had to be a war memorial.
It looks very complete compared to the real one.

I grew up not too far from there in the little town of Klickitat. These are remarkable photos of it.

Laura, this doesn't look like Stonehenge. It may be sacred as it is dedicated to the folly of politicians but it is a Folly.

Nothing can exactly look like the original. It is a memorial, built by one man, Sam Hill, and his desire to honor the soldiers who lost their lives in WWI. It is near a very small town in basically the middle of nowhere and took over a decade to complete in the early 1900's. I find it all pretty remarkable.

Very cool! But does it ring out in musical tones? Apparently the ancient version does.
