My heart is heavy with sorrow
Major wildfires are raging out of control
throughout Oregon and Washington State
Homes have been destroyed
Lives have been lost
with no end in sight
We are in dire need
of a miracle

Bill and I are not in harm's way. We live on the west side of the Cascades, most of the fires are on the east side. But even here, we are tinder dry with no rain in sight. We pray for rain.
Beautiful image! Yes, I agree...I am hoping and praying for cool temps and rain to bring some relief for the firefighters.
I've been praying for the firefighters- and for the rains to come. I'm glad you are not in harm's way.
Fire is something horrible, it spreads and spreads, it will not stop without water. Poor people who will face a fire under. And the animals.
I cannot really imagine.
I wish you the pouring rain and quickly.
The image is just beautiful.
On our TV news the other day... 15 fire fighters from NZ have joined to help, they flew to LA, transferred to Boise, and then onward deployment.I know that number is so small, but more from Australia will join in. Hope you stay safe.
Laura, I came from your husband's blog to seee yours. Your photograph is so inspiring, it takes my breath away. You areso talented.
Awesome and emotive. May the miracle come quickly.
So glad you are safe, but what a tragedy. I too have been praying for the firefighters and the rain to come. Here in Utah we are having very smoky, gray, dark days. Not sure if our smoke is coming from your direction or Calif or both. On a happier note, this image could be one of my all time favorites of yours. I think I've said that before, but you are just a master at creating these evocative, powerful macro images!
