Spring is blooming in the lowlands

but winter still has hold

of the Cascades

A perfectly perfect day

for a paddle around the pond

of dried grasses

tall and slender

in the fields

A Single Drop of Rain

 On the edge of a petal

a single raindrop sits

Perfection 

of nature and beauty

The rains ended

the clouds parted

giving way to the sun

Making this sweet little Camellia

Fresh and newly emerging

Beautiful to see

but not so friendly to the nose

It's called skunk cabbage

and for good reason

Raindrops Keep Falling

The sun emerges

from behind dark clouds

then just as quickly

scurries away

~

Branches Filled with Blossoms

An abundance of

beautiful bright blossoms

Like little beacons of white

they can illuminate the night

Subtle Signs of Spring

I awoke this morning

to find a wee bit of Spring

had arrived overnight

Silent now

it sits

but in its day it made

such beautiful music

that can still be heard

If we but close our eyes

and open our minds

Over On the East Side

Just east of the

Columbia River Gorge

the landscape changes dramatically

showing off its own unique beauty

When there's even the slightest break

in our cloudy rainy weather

and blue skies actually appear

We do our happy dance

Between downpours

weather gear needed

Coldwater Lake

Hues of amber and gold

wash over the landscape

as day slowly gives way

to night

Rolling Through

Wisps of clouds 

hugging the hillsides

and dipping deep

into the valley below

~

Endless Gratitude

Trees

comfort and shelter

giving and forgiving all 

~

Windswept

And sporting a top knot

The Oregon Coast

Droplets

Meld  

with time and place

~

A Conflict of Colors

Splashes of brightness

 colors of old

a graveyard for trucks

rich in histories untold

~

Mountains Make Good Listeners

Their quiet stillness 

eternal patience

and everlasting presence

make them ideal listeners

it may even talk to you

The rains let up

enough to grab our slickers

and go for a wander

in our favorite rainforest

Fresh new lily pads

afloat at the wetlands

a gleeful sight

Rugged and pristine 

rising from the Pacific 

far below

Of Land Sea and Sky

No matter the weather

there's no place I'd rather be

( especially on my birthday )

A Peaceful Wander

Along the

Columbia River

Moody Blues

In an instant

 the sun was overtaken

by a thick devouring fog

~

Of Times Past

Gates without fences

once worthy

to contain and to hold

Now

 but the keeper of stories

still untold

~

Being One With Nature

On the way up to

Mt St Helens

 is this lovely little nearly barren hill

with but a small outcropping of rock

and a few spindly trees that bow to the winds

I love this little hill

of simplicity

It speaks to me

 and I to it

Sunlight on White

A rose so translucent

a rainbow

of colors bloom
