In 1980 Mt St Helens erupted with such force
it devastated over 150 square miles
of pristine forest in just 6 minutes
The total energy output was equivalent to
400 million tons of TNT
This fascinating casualty of that day
sits precariously on the bank of Coldwater Lake
which was born of the volcano

I live in the valley below Mt St Helens
here in Washington State

I'm trying not to be sad--nature has a way of replenishing and rejuvenating, but gosh....what a desolation.
I love the photo. It humbly reminds me of the balance in life that we don't get to control.
kunst skapt av naturen, flott fotografert, nice picture. :-)
Some of the root wads from the eruption make incredible sculptures. This one included and especially with the reflection.
Most of my time was spent on the Windy Ridge side of the Monument so nice to see the Coldwater side through your eyes.
Nice shot.
great photo!
Luonto on kaunista, ja Sinä kuvaat sen hyvin.
Hyvää viikonloppua!
Muy buena fotografía!!!
Un abrazo!!! ;)
Even though I have never been in the area, I remember the old man that lived on the mountain. He was gone in an instant. I was glued to the television when the mountain blew up.
I can't believe it was that long ago... how time flies.
It looks petrified in the photo... and yes the pun is intended. lol.
You captured a moment of historical significance... wow!
I echo everyone's words.
Great image with a story to tell! I can't believe it was over 30 years ago.....
Mielenkiinnolla katselin kuviasi.
Kaunista ja korkeatasoista työtä.
