I remember being very impressed by it's eruption but then I like volcanoes and it certainly put on a good show.
Such a majestic site...and so powerful, even in its quietness. What a gorgeous sight to behold.

Were you living in the Northwest in 1980? I remember that day like it was just yesterday. I posted some old photos from June or July of 1980 when we went up to some of the small towns in her path.
