I remember doing that! It was sort of magical at the time.
We didn't have a maple tree when I was a child. However, we have two old ones next to the house my husband and I have lived in for 35 years...and we HATE seeing those "helicopters"! They stick between the windshield and the car hood....they travel everywhere and little maple seedlings result. ;-)
